Somehow, it’s already December. The year flew by, and you’re probably already decorating — or putting it on the back burner because you have so many other things to do. But no matter how many items there are on your to-do list, this is the time of year where everyone is hosting events — dinners with your posse, your office holiday party, and your significant other’s office Christmas shindig. No matter what, you have to make time to look good, right? So what’s a gal (or lad) to do when you’re short on time but still want to look fabulous? Well, hello, darling. We’re here to help.
Best Christmas Party Hairstyles for This Holiday Season
If you look through your parents’ photo albums, you’d likely notice which decade each picture was taken. This is because, for generations, fashion trends have been very telling of their time. Nowadays, there’s more of an anything-goes attitude, bringing with it so many options.
1. Deep Side Part.
If every day you look like Marcia Brady, sporting a deep side part would make you look like you had a mini makeover. It naturally gives your hair more volume — giving you a sexier look. To do so, use a comb to part your hair, going a little longer than you usually do. Let your hair fall slightly across your face, then style with a curling or a flat iron. Set it with volumizing spray.
2. Vintage Hollywood Glam
If you like big, dramatic curls, this is the look you’re going for. If you have curly hair, blow-dry it straight first. Once that’s done, start by sectioning your hair, starting with the top. Use a curling iron to style each section, so that each curl looks like you’re Shirley Temple. After creating each individual curl, pin it up to your scalp, until you finish curling each section of hair. Unclip each curl and let the curls fall loosely. Use a wide brush to brush through the curls.
3. Natural Curls
The afros of the 60s and 70s, and the big hair of the 80s are all back with a vengeance — and they look fabulous. If you have naturally curly hair, simply wash and condition it, and wear it natural with your favorite hair products. If you have short hair, wash it, and run hot oil or coconut oil through it Then use your fingers to shape them individually. If you have long hair, use curl cream after washing it, separate it at the roots with your fingers, and blow-dry with a diffuser for extra volume. It’s easy, it looks good, and it screams confidence.
4. Sleek Straight Hair
On the other side of the coin, you may want to look like Jennifer Aniston in every movie she made in the early 2000s. If that’s the case, wash your hair, use a leave-in conditioner to detangle it, and sleep with it in a braid. The next day, when it’s fully dry, separate it into sections. Pinup the top portions, separate the bottom portion in two — one over each side of your neck. Spray anti-frizz product, and use your flat iron on each section. If you don’t have the time to wait overnight, blowdry it before using the flat iron. Once you’re done, smooth out the ends with argan oil. Spray the rest of the hair with a shine mist.
5. A Sophisticated Side Chignon
A classy up-do never goes out of style — and it’s actually pretty easy to create. If you have shoulder-length hair, separate your hair into two sections — one at the top and one at the bottom. Clip the top portion. Spray volumizing product on the roots of the bottom portion, and slightly tease it. Gather your teased hair in a bun. Unclip the top portion and divide it in half. Bring the left top portion around to the right side of the bun, and the right top portion around to the left side of the bun. Pin each side underneath the bun.
Once you’re ready, do a quick makeup routine — unless you have all the time in the world. If so, by all means, go all out, then put on a black or red dress (or pantsuit, whatever strikes your fancy, really), and go out the door. No matter which hairstyle you choose, remember to have fun!
